Joanne Rocky Delaplaine’s first poetry book The Local World, was published in 2019 by Word Tech Editions, and was awarded one of the top ten poetry books for 2019 by Beltway Poetry Quarterly.


Her poems have appeared in Poet Lore, Beltway Poetry Quarterly, Ekphrastic Review, Innisfree, International Literary Quarterly, The Northern Virginia Review, Potomac Review, Tinderbox, and elsewhere. Her poems have won Best of the Net 2015, first place in the Bethesda Literary Festival Poetry Contest, 2014, and first place in The Northern Virginia Review contest 2013.

She is a Maryland native and for the past five years co-directed the Café Muse reading series in Chevy Chase, Maryland. She has taught poetry workshops for the Split This Rock Poetry Festival, the Great Labor Arts Exchange, and the Mariposa Poetry Festival. She will teach again for Mariposa in Puerto Rico next August.
